The wreckers teams; both men and the ladies are the reigning champions of this year’s fourth softball series which was held at the University of Eldoret on 27th – 28th March 2022. The league attracted both the male and the ladies’ team categories respectively.
In the women’s category, The Nairobi Wreckers Softball Club played the Meru champions NYS in a very challenging match that sore wreckers a narrow margin score of 5-4 thus becoming victorious. The semi-finals were played on the second day which attracted TUM, Wreckers, MMU, and NYS teams.
During the first day of the tournament, the teams were all fighting for the big prize qualifications. The Wreckers, MMU, TUM, and NYS teams secured the semi-final spot after they enormously won against UoE, MMUST, and JKUAT teams.
In the men’s category, The Nairobi Wreckers Softball Club comfortably secured their spot in the finals with a whopping 10 – 0 runs against the reigning champions, The Mighty Titans ( TUM). The semi-finals attracted JKUAT, Wreckers, NYS, and TUM teams. The Mighty Titans played off against NYS where they secured a 6-3 win. Wreckers perfectly raked the ball against JKUAT and won by a satisfying range of 7-1.
The first day of the tournament attracted a total of seven male teams where UoE, MMUST, and MMU were eliminated after failing to get wins resulting in Wreckers, TUM, NYS, and JKUAT meeting in the semi-finals.
Hellen from the NYS ladies team and Samuel Young from TUM were the fourth softball series queen and king of the mound. The MMUST softball teams also participated in this series and they did remarkably well since this is their first national game.
The next softball league series will be held at the Technical University of Mombasa from 29th – 30th April 2022.
