Derrick was introduced to the game of baseball in 2013 when he joined high school, and it was a Japanese coach called Toyota who introduced him. He gained experience by playing a lot of games against the Japanese team at that time, and he became the first rookie to hit his first home run in high school against them at Kenya Institute of the Deaf.
Elizabeth Wairimu Njau, the Senior Women's Softball National Team Captain, embarked on her softball journey in 2016 as a pitcher. In December 2017, she proudly represented Kenya as a pitcher in the East Africa Championship in Mwanza, Tanzania, and was appointed as the Team Captain.
Dennis Katumo's journey in sports has been one of unwavering dedication, fueled by a genuine love for softball and baseball. For ten years, he has deeply engaged in the complexities of these two ever-changing sports, refining his abilities and leaving an impact in both domestic and global stages. His impressive voyage commenced at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where his cousin, Mercy Mutua, a former backstop for the national softball squad, sparked his enthusiasm for these athletic pursuits.
